I teach music lessons to curious humans of all ages.

As a teacher, I have three goals.

To spark curiosity,

To nurture creativity,

And to care for the whole person, mind, body and spirit.

When you meet me, you’ll find that I’m a passionate and upbeat fellow learner, committed to not only teaching you an instrument but helping you develop your own creativity in the process.

I emphasize a holistic approach to teaching, where I include a variety of disciplines and skills. I’m not just teaching you how to play an instrument or a specific piece, but also giving you tools to become a more culturally aware, curious and effective individual.  I believe that exposure to music theory, music and art history, efficient learning strategies and healthy movement principles make lessons much more exciting and effective.

Lessons with me center on classical training as a base, while incorporating other styles to give you a wide repertoire and the chance to make your learning your own.

Music education is not just about learning an instrument. It is about developing character and life skills like discipline, confidence, self-expression and leadership. It is about teaching yourself how to learn and to listen.

“Vivian is hands down the best teacher in the world. My daughter started in first grade and the violin proved to be a difficult instrument to learn. I strongly believe that it was Vivian’s gentle and encouraging nature that nurtured my daughter’s love and kept her interested through difficult learning moments. Vivian has a special place in my daughter’s heart and I highly recommend Vivian. There is no one better.” ~Francesca B.
